EDRS-A launch with IberEspacio Thermal Systems Technology
The first European Data Relay System (EDRS) laser node, the most ambitious telecom programme to date, has been launched successfully from Kazakhstan.
The EDRS-A is the first of a serie of satellites that will compose the ‘SpaceDataHighway’, a communications space network that by means of laser optical conexions, will relay up to 50 terabytes of data from space to Earth every day.
IberEspacio is the responsible of the Heat Transfer System (HTS) of the Laser Communications Terminal developed by TESAT. This equipment will dramatically improve access to time-critical data, aiding disaster response by emergency services and maritime surveillance.
