Heat Pipes are passive heat transfer devices that combine the principles of thermal conductivity and phase transition to manage efficiently the heat between two solid interfaces.

Axial Grooved Heat Pipes

Axial Grooved Heat Pipes are manufactured as a container made by extrusion with a longitudinal axial grooved structure. IberEspacio manufactures Axial Grooved Heat Pipes with the following characteristics:

  • Profiles: from 6 mm to 20 mm outer diameter with single and dual bore
  • Design: custom made with 3D bending
  • Material: 6063 aluminum alloy
  • Length: up to 6 meters
  • Working fluids: ethane, propylene, ammonia and toluene
  • Projects: AMS-02, Galileo FOC, Sentinel missions, BepiColombo, MTG, Jupiter 2 (EchoStar 19), and 29 missions more

Arterial Heat Pipes

Arterial Heat Pipes are manufactured with a metallic mesh which creates an artery and pumps the fluid. Liquid travels by the artery while vapor occupies the remaining tube section. IberEspacio manufactures Arterial Heat Pipes with the following characteristics:

  • Profiles: 12mm and 16 mm external diameter
  • Material: stainless steel
  • Length: up to 1.4 meters
  • Working fluids: ethane, propylene, ammonia and toluene
  • Projects: Sentinel 1A, Sentinel 2A, EDRS-A and 4 missions more
